An Unsent Project alternative where every note gets posted

If you've sent something to The Unsent Project and waited for it to show up, you're not the only one. What I Meant is a free, anonymous wall of unsent messages, and your note goes up the moment you post it.

How the two compare

The Unsent Project is a long-running art project by Rora Blue, built around unsent text messages to a first love and the colour people connect with that love. It's lovely, and because it's curated, submissions are reviewed before they go up and not every one is published. What I Meant is simpler and more open:

How to post your unsent message

  1. Write it. Open Write a note and type straight onto the sticky note. Add their first name if you want, or leave it as "someone".
  2. Make it yours. Pick how it feels, who it's for, the handwriting and the paper colour. All optional except one feeling.
  3. Stick it on the wall. It's posted right away. Save the private delete link if you might want to take it down later.

Before you post: a nickname or a detail only one person would know can give you away. Keep it as vague as you need it to be.

Read notes like these

Most notes here are written to people who are gone from someone's life in one way or another. Start with unsent messages to an ex, to a crush or to a parent, or read by feeling: longing, regret, heartbreak, love. Or just read the newest notes on the wall.

Questions

Is What I Meant part of The Unsent Project?

No. It's a separate, independent site and isn't affiliated with The Unsent Project.

Does every note get posted?

Yes. Notes only come down if they break the rules, such as harassing someone or sharing private information. Anyone can report a note, and it's hidden once enough different people report it.

Is it anonymous and free?

Yes. No account, no email, your name is optional, and it costs nothing.

Can I delete my note later?

Yes, from the browser you posted it from, or with the private link you get right after posting.

Can I search for a name?

Yes. The search box on the wall finds names and words in notes.

Can I write in a language other than English?

Yes, any language.
