Terms and Rules

These are the rules for using What I Meant. By posting a note or reply, you agree to them. They're short and written to be read.
What's allowed
This is a place for honest, messy feelings. Heartbreak, grief, anger, regret and swearing are all fine. Using this place to hurt someone isn't.
What isn't allowed
- Harassing, threatening or targeting someone.
- Sharing private information about anyone, such as a phone number, address, email, school or workplace.
- Anything sexual involving someone under 18. This is never allowed, and we may report it to the authorities.
- Graphic sexual content about anyone.
- Encouraging or praising suicide, self-harm or eating disorders.
- Hate aimed at people because of their race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or where they're from.
- Spam, ads, scams, or pretending to be someone else.
- Anything illegal.
Reports and moderation
Notes go up right away, so we can't read every one first. Anyone can report a note or reply, and it's hidden automatically once three different people report it. We can also hide or remove anything that breaks these rules, with or without a report.
Getting a note removed
You can delete your own note or reply from the browser you used, or with the private link you got after posting.
If you can't delete it yourself, or a note is about you or shares your private information, message @mohdmahmodi on X with the link to the note.
Who can post
You need to be at least 13 to post. If you're under 18, take extra care with anything personal.
Your notes
Your words stay yours. By posting, you give us free, worldwide permission to store and show your note on this site and in share images, and to format it, for as long as it stays up.
You're responsible for what you post. Notes are public, and our privacy policy explains what that means.

What I Meant can't give crisis support or professional advice.
If you're going through something heavy, please talk to someone. findahelpline.com lists free helplines in many countries, and in the US you can call or text 988.
The site itself
What I Meant is free and provided as it is. It may change, go down or lose data. Notes are written by other people and aren't our views. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for what others post or for losses from using the site.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. Using the site after that means you accept the new terms.
